What it is: Geocaches are objects that come in different sizes and shapes, hidden all over the world by geocache users like you! Use the app to locate items near you, then go hunt for them! Some are easy to find, while others are quite difficult. Once you find a geocache, you can log your information in a book and trade knickknacks that others before you left behind. With over 2 million geocaches worldwide, chances are there’s one near you! What you need:
- The free Geocaching App (available for Android and iOS).
- A free www.geocaching.com account.
- Optional:Â a GPS unit, like our personal favorite the Garmin eTrex 20x.
How to do it:
- Download the Geocaching App.
- Sign up for an account.
- Find geocaches nearby and let the adventure begin!

2. Birdwatching with the Audubon Bird Guide
What it is: Like geocaching but with fewer puzzles and more birds! Audubon is a bird watching field guide that helps you to identify over 800 species of birds. Search and filter by shape, region, and color. Includes 8 hours of high-quality bird sounds. Using the app means you don’t have to be an expert before going on this adventure–it’ll get you out in nature, and you’ll both learn something new.

What you need:
- Free Audubon Bird Guide (available on Android and iOS).

How to do it:
- Use the app to identify birds while on a walk or at the park. Search for birds by regions and hunt for local species.
- You can list and log sightings in the app to keep track of when and where you saw different types of birds.

3. Hike and hammock
What it is: Everyone loves hammocks. Finding the perfect hammock spot is fun and rewarding. Combined with a hike (make sure to stretch first!), it’s an adventure that won’t be soon forgotten. Bring two hammocks for ultimate comfort (or just one to make sure you get some good snuggle time), plus books to read–or just relax and enjoy being in nature together. Given the number of awesome times we’ve had in hammocks, this one easily made the outdoor adventure date ideas list.

What you need:
- A hammock (we recommend ENO Hammocks, they have single hammocks, double hammocks, and even entire hammock sleep systems).
- Two solid anchor points (generally trees, but could be rocks, poles, etc.). Make sure they’re strong! Hammocks put a lot of leverage onto the anchor points.
How to do it:
- Finding perfect anchor points can take a while. Take your time to find a spot that’s scenic and comfortable.
- Hang your hammock

4. Anywhere Travel Guide
What it is: This game makes for an unforgettable and spontaneous road trip. The deck includes 75 cards to “inspire exploration”. The prompts include actions from “ask the next person you meet where his/her favorite street is. Go there.” to “write down what you like about this city on a small piece of paper. 5. Beach games day
What it is: A ton of fun for people of all athletic abilities. Bring friends for a great group date option. Add in beers and snacks and it’s a party. There are a lot of options for beach games that are inexpensive and easy to learn. Not near a beach? All of these can be played at a local park or grassy area. Our favorites include Spikeball, paddle tennis, beach volleyball, ultimate frisbee, and cornhole.
